Integrated Study On The Different Layers Of Urban Public Traffic

With the development of urban economy, the traffic problems of urban areas have become increasingly severe. Urban public traffic has become important means to deal with the contradiction between the supply and demand of urban traffic. And it plays an important role in adjusting urban transport structure. Expansion of urban scope results in people's trip length incresed and various trip demands. But urban public traffic can't fully satisfy people's trip demands, so more and more people choose personal mode of transportations due to its flexibility and freedom and usually shorter travel times.Urban public transport is mainly composed of Mass Rapid Transit and common public transport. And common public transport, which relies mainly on buses, is the emphasis of developing urban traffic. But recently, the development of it has been slowed down because of problems, such as low speed, low level of service. So the bus traffic cannot develop swimmingly. Now the question arises, how to plan different layers of public traffic and integated them in order to smoothly join the different layers of public traffic and convenient transfer among the other modes of transportation. The ultimate goal is to attract bunch of people to choose public transportation, is the key, to solving the urban traffic problems and discourage the use of privately owned vehicles to reduce the motorization in the hub of the cities.The public traffic system discussed in the thesis is divided into 4 parts, metro, bus rapid transit, local bus, mini-bus. The thesis studied systematically, the layout method of different layers of public traffic network, the integrated of different layers of public traffic network, including urban public traffic system integrate with exterior factor, integrated pattern of different layers of public traffic, urban public traffic system integrate with another traffic modes, and the developmental pattern of urban-rural public traffic integration is suggested.Based on all those studies, the thesis discuss search direction of skeleton transit routes, function of different layers routes of public traffic, common public traffic network classification planning, integrated and join pattern of different layers of public traffic. Finally, taking Chengdu as an example, the thesis has discussed the actual process of planning different layers routes of public traffic and integrated pattern of different layers of public traffic.
