On basis of the present situation and the development future of research on storey-addition of building and the feature of structure added by light-gauge steel storey, through analysis with effect of damping, a calculating method of earthquake response and dynamic properties of structure added by light gauge steel storey are put forward. First, the damping distributed regular of structure added by light-gauge steel storey is studied in this paper, then amended formula of seismic response spectrum and calculating program are completed with damping effect by Mode superposition Method in terms of the theory of complex damping. Several structures added by light-gauge steel storey with different types as numerical examples show that to Mode Superposition Method, the number of mode combination at least three, to Botom Shear Method, 2.0 is suggested as the numerical value of namic amplification coefficient of building's additional storey. The study conform to the bending-shearing state, the obvious phenomenon of whippy twig effect. Some construction measure and design method of joint and construction are put forward in the last part of the paper from engineering angle.
