Beam to column connection is a important part in steel frame structure, The design of connection has much direct influence on the behavior of whole steel frame. Especially, numerous rigid connections brittle fracture happened in the 1994 Northridge earthquake in America and 1995 Hyogoken-Nanbu earthquake in Japan, which indicate that cognitions on the damage mechanism of beam to column connection are rather inadequate. Subsequently, many scholars have been attaching great theory analysis and experiment research. As a column made of H shape steel have two directions, namely weak stalk and strong stalk. In fact, the weak stalk direction connection is as important as strong stalk direction connection in steel frame, and the design and construction of it is more difficult and complicated. Therefore, further studies on good form of weak stalk connections are not only significant for the theoretical aspect but also important in practice.This paper draws lessons from the research approach of some scholars on the basis of existing research result, a new form of weak talk connection is developed. This kind of connection divide the flange connecting plate into two parts. In order to fit the actual engineering, two direction beam to column connections structure of model are founded, and the model are calculated by FEM. The commercial software ANSYS has been used. Especially, the rigid of connection, the hysteresis performance and stress distribution of connection and panel zone are studied. at the same time, the result of calculation are compared with a common two direction connections.In addition, two group models are analysised by ANSYS. These models are made of eight different thickness and length flange connecting plate. Based on the eight models, mainly study the thickness and length of flange connection impact on the behavior of modified connections. Subsequently, draw some regularity result and give suggested thickness and length of flange connecting plate in actual engineering.At last, some conclusions and suggestions are obtained according the result of study, which not only have important meaning in actual engineering but also provide a good basis for the further research on this modified connections.
