Beam-to-column web connections are generally as flange connections, the construction and preformance are different from flange connections, especially when beam flange width is shorter than column width,column horizontal reinforcing ribs needs to be manufactured into quadrilateral plate, using a certain slope scale and extend out of the column, which make the process more difficulty,and it needs to increase the column width in order to cover the quadrilateral plates when decorating the house,so it decrease the effective using area of the house invisibly.For solving the disadvantage of beam-to-column strongaxis connections of H-shaped steel currently,a new-style of beam-to-column minor axis connections of H-shaped steel is invented and its mechanical behavior have being researched in this article.The major research content and the achievement relevant in this article include:Firstly,we have carried out the research of traditional beam-to-column minor axis welded-bolted connections and the new-style beam-to-column minor axis welded-bolted connections,doing the low-reversed cyclic loading test of these two connection styles at the same time.To sum up some seismic-indexs of the minor axis connections,such as:hysteretic behavior,ductility performance,dissipation capacity and rigidity degeneration.Besides, we also make the relative analysis of the carrying capacity,ductility performance,dissipation capacity of the traditional beam-to-column minor axis connections and the new-style beam-to-column minor axis connections.Secondly,using the commercial finite element program ANSYS10.0 which is widely used internationly currently to imitate the mechanical behavior of beam-to-column minor axis connections under the cyclic load.The outcome prove that the Finite Element Method can imitate the mechanical behavior of beam-to-column minor axis connections under the cyclic load accurately.Thirdly,considering some parameter"s difference such as ratio of axial compression stress to strength of column,skin panel height,skin panel thickness,reinforcing ribs thickness,which all have great influence on the new-style beam-to-column minor axis connections,we design nine check bars,and carry out the study on response under monotonous load and hysteretic behavior under cyclical load of these nine new-style beam-to-column minor axis connections,putting forward new-style beam-to-column minor axis connections,whose skin panel height,skin panel thickness and reinforcing ribs thickness are more propitious to building function and construction"s needs.This article covered a wide range of content, and the conclusions and suggestions have a great referenced value for the engineering design and construction,meanwhile, it also provide a favourable base for the further research on this new-style beam-to-column minor axis connection.
