Recently, significant attention have been giving to the development of EV (electric vehicle) throughout the world due to the environmental protection and energy conservation. There is abundant rare-earth storage in China. To China, it is an advantage to develop Electric vehicle (EV) with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) as the tractor. This paper studied on PMSM and its drive system in EV application. Sum up, this paper mainly includes: The paper fouces on the direct torque control (DTC) in the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor.Develop the congtrol shysterm of DTC based on the need of the congtrol systerm of the EV,sets out the function of zero voltage vector in PMSM DTC: decrease torque ripples and enhance both the static and dynamic control performances of the system. Modify the switch table to prevent the startup difficult when the flux is at the range of the sector in the DTC to meet the requirements of the pulse on of the EV,for when flux in the fuzzy sector. This paper also sets out to simulation this research of the DTC methord in EV. Developed a direct torque control (DTC) drive system for EV based on DSP TMS320LF2407A. In this section, the structure of the inverter and drive system, sensor,a scheme of communication protocol in EV were presented.Propose the software design depend on the PMSM DTC of the EV,it mainly includes:the model of flux and torque ,the select of the switch table ect. To improve the system performance at low speed, some measures were adopted, and the precision of stator flux estimator was increased. The experimental result of the DTC system at low speed was presented and proves that the control system can meet the requirement of a drive of EV.
