This paper analyses in detail the operation principle and technological characteristic of the high voltage direct current (HVDC light), and simulate the both sides of rectifier and the inverter by the MATLAB. On the basis of above, this paper also designs the parameters of the control system when the constant DC voltage control and constant AC voltage control strategies are adopted, and proposes the systematic model of HVDC light by the MATLAB, and analyses the operating characteristic of HVDC light under normal and the fault of three phase to ground fault. Conditions. At the same time, the electromagnetic transient simulation model and control system of HVDC Light is constructed by use of the PSCAD/EMTDC software, and the simulation results under different fault modes are analyzed, which establishes the foundation for the further studying on HVDC Light's laboratory device.In addition, with the constant development of FACTS technology and the increasing engineering application, the reliability index of FACTS component has already become the main factor of influencing the whole performance of flexible transmission system. Therefore, on the basis of analyzing to UPFC and ASVG device structure, this paper builds the state space models and the equivalent models of UPFC and ASVG by dividing the UPFC and ASVG into different sub-systems with different functions. It finishes the UPFC probabilistic modeling, simulation and reliability evaluation of UPFC and ASVG by combining the C language and MATLAB.
