Numerical analysis and on-site testing are conducted for the water transition process of Dongshen water supply system. The best operating mode is addressed. Technical conditions such as the number and locations of monitoring sections are also proposed. For crucial primary and secondary gates and valves, technical requirements for their operation are introduced. Finally, an important control point model is proposed.(1) Through numerical analysis of the steady operating condition and on-site testing, water surface curve is used to verify the actual heights' rationality of the top of channels and tunnels. Flow equilibrium calculation is also performed for the steady and unsteady flow in the system at pump stations, reservoirs as well as the pipes, tunnels and channels connecting them. The system's capability to adjust flow equilibrium is also evaluated. By simulating the flow transition process in the system, critical points along with the parameters under critical condition are discovered.(2) Based on numerical results from steady state analysis, the functionality of the connecting gates between channels, tunnels and pipes is analyzed. Normal operating condition is prescribed After analyzing the steady and unsteady transition process in the system, a framework for an optimum and energy-efficient operation is recommended. Necessary monitoring sections for such optimum operation of the system are also proposed.(3) Flow transition process is also simulated for emergent conditions when a single pump or multiple pumps at individual or multiple pump stations were inoperable due to blackout The mutual influence among pump stations under the worst condition is analyzed. Water levels, pressures and other important factors, such as the water discharge and discharging time, are also computed for pump stations and the connecting channels, pipes and tunnels.(4) Possible accidents due to such emergent conditions are studied for the entire system and guidelines are proposed to minimize risks. Potential problems caused by the emergent operation at certain pump station and gates are also studied, plans are proposed in response to different risks.
