Research On The Use Of Riverside Public Space In Wuhan

Now the riverside pubic space is being constructed rapidly in Wuhan and has made some achievement: Hankou riverbeach and Wuchang riverbeach have been completed and put into use, which renew the environment of the bank of Long river. The research was trying to know how the riverside pubic spaces were used and what were the factors that influenced the use of the riverside public space. This article choosed three typical cases, researching the urban environment, the design of space, the activities and the management policy by watching, sending out questionnaire and interviewing the users. In the end, this article concluded the factors that influence the use of riverside public space and give some advice. First , in view of urban planning, the riverside public space should be integrated into the whole city environment by being put into correct position and organizing rational transportation. Second, the design of space should pay attention to the climate, the historical and huminine characteristic, the ecology, and trying to creat diverse space and to provide more hydrophilic establishment. Finally, the management institution should supporting the citizen acitivities and organizing public activities.
