The Study For The Form Of Architecture Under The Logic Of Technology

About a century ago, the development of productivity brought human beings into the Industrial Times, when Modern Architecture came into being. After that, along with the development of technology, modern architecture fell into many different kinds of genres. New Modernism developed the theory of Modern Architecture. Hi-tech pushed the hi-tech architecture to the top, even making technology some kind of ornaments. Today as the digital technology becomes more and more popular, the mode of design and production has changed a lot in some industries. It is possible to design and produce things without paper. In the architectural field, development of technology offers new tools for design, and makes it that some special forms of architecture come out. May people feel indistinctly that architecture today is very like a century before. The productivity of human beings advances rapidly as the technology changes with passing day. Technology changes people's life styles, production mode, and tastes. And huge changes have happened in architecture. As for the change of architectural forms, many factors contribute to it. Now that science & technology changed the fertility, the life styles, as well as the production mode, it must influence the form of architecture in some degree. Facing these changes in architectural forms, no one can deny that it is technology that decides it. However, to what extent can technology influence the architectural forms, and how deeply can it be done? In terms of the logic of technology, can we find some rules about the development of architectural forms? This paper analyses the form of architecture in three aspects in the logic of technology ----materials & structure technology, built technology, and design technology. There are two intentions to study the contents of the architectural forms and the rules of its development in the view of technology, one is to enrich the architecture theory, and the other is to offer the architecture practice a rational methodology. The paper falls into seven parts. The first two chapters sum up the changes and developments of the architectural forms in each key time. Chapter three to chapter five are the main parts of this paper, which note the process of study in three different technology fields. While the final chapter synthesizes the conclusions of former three chapters, then I get the final conclusion of the paper.
