It is one of problems that the high and steep slopes remediated will be inevitablely met during the construction of road in the west of china,which resolved reasonably is one of cruxes to ensure the road construct smoothly and work smoothly.The retaining structures to remediate the high and steep slopes such as retaining wall, retaining piles,anchor and the anti-slide piles with pre-stressed anchor cables and so on, are often be applicated in the projects of the high and steep slopes during the construction of highway from now on,one of which that the the piles with pre-stressed anchor cables have been proved to be more effective to the problem with the practice. The big complication of the reciprocity between the retaining structure system and the slope system that results in the design methods and theory of the piles with pre-stressed anchor cables still unreasonable to the pratice.First,the classification of the highway slopes,the mechanism of the downslide,the principles and measures to remediate the highway slopes have been analyzed.The styles and the mechanism of downslides are analyzed in details,in the same time,putting forward to the basic principles to calculate the downslide strength, keeping the calculation method more consistent with the stability analysis method ,which ensure keep the result of the downslide strength caulated the consistence with the corresponding stability parameter. In order to modify the disadvantage of the existing method for computing the landslide thrust that is not applicable for larger scope, 5 types of the slip surfaces have been given with the computation formula of landslide thrust respectively.The retaining mechanism is researched from the factors the reasons of application, mechanical characteristics on the condition that the slope stability is analyzed on the base of digital model, at the same time, analyzing the design principle and methods of the anti-slide piles with pre-stressed anchor cables and bringing forward the concept of dynamic design according to the characteristics of construction of the anti-slide piles with pre-stressed anchor cables. In addition, the optimum assembled design of the anti-slide piles with pre-stressed anchor cables have been set forth for the reason of more economical during the construction.The key problems and construction attentions and monitoring methods of construction are analyzed in details in the paper because of the complication of construction and the demands of construction technique.An example is given in theend of the paper, which show the viewpoint that the anti-slide piles with pre-stressed anchor cables applicated to remediate the high and steep high slope is an effective and economical method.
