Road greening, the most important part of urban greenbelt system, may reflect the style and features of urban greening and landscape uniqueness. Landscape road is the key to road greening. With the landscape planning and design of Yingbin road in Xianyang city as an example, this paper discusses the thoughts, methods and other related theories about the planning and design of urban landscape road. It aims to offer some experience and lessons about planning and design for the construction of other urban landscape roads in China. The major findings about the thoughts, methods and theory of urban road of landscape have been achieved as follows:1. The most important characteristic of the planning and design of urban road of landscape is the organic integration of the landscape and the city or regional culture.2. The planning and design of urban road of landscape and the division of landscape should adopt the principle of "people first", that is, focus should be laid on the integration of the appreciation and application of the landscape.3. The objective of the design of urban landscape road is to create a landscape ecosystem for appreciation. The vital idea for the plant collocation in the greenbelt is that of ecological community. Hard landscapes, the ratio of whose area with the green land should be moderate, should be integrated with the green-plant ecosystem.4. In the design of urban landscape road, emphasis should also be laid on the design of road node, where people and vehicles gather.. Meanwhile, importance should be given to traffic first and then to the integration of appreciation and application.5. In the design of urban landscape road, attention should also be paid to the change of time and space.6. The collocation of green plant should be a natural integration of theevergreen plant, deciduous plant, shrub, covering plant, flowering plant, and herbaceous plant, which can lead to the formation of an ecological community where there are green plants and flowers with diversified height and level in each season.7. Concern should also go to the application of Park parergon as sculpture, which may better show the cultural characteristic of a city. However, the number of proportion of it should be appropriate.
