Along with the national electric network continuously interconnected, the scale of powersystem is increasingly enlarged and the question of low frequency oscillation is day by dayprominent. Being lack of essential decision-making support, the operation personnel arecontrolling the low frequency oscillation. In the paper the method of fast estimatingelectromechanical mode is studied. Using the method the situation of the low frequencyoscillation in power system can be quickly analyzed. At the meantime combined thecharacteristic of power system stabilizer (PSS) depressing the low frequency oscillation, theGenetic Algorithm (GA) is used to optimize the parameters of multi-machine PSS. Thestructure of decision support system for the low frequency oscillation control is establishedand various module functions are realized. As an example of New England 10 machinessystem, the Calculation results show that the algorithms are correct and the system isvalid.
