In the most areas of our country, clay birck has been gradually excluded from use.At the same time, autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), which own the remarkablephysical and mechanical property, is often used on infill wall in frame and is rarelyused on the load bearing walls. Basing on the background of above, a new multistoryresidence structruce system presumed AAC wall as bearing wall is presented in thisdissertation. This dissertation is a part of experimental investigation of oneprovince-level scientific research project. By a series of experimental investigationon load-bearing masonry made of AAC, the seismic capabilities of the improvementof the load-carring wall have been researched. Restoring-force experiments of five pieces of block wall with differentconstructional type under low reversed cyclic loading have been made. Investigationhas been made on the failure feature, the deformation behavior, the hysteresisperformance, the rigidity degeneration and the ductility of walls. The experimentalresults indicate that the seismic performance of block masonry walls, which used theconstructional column and concrete strips, is improved remarkably. It set a soundbasis for further analysis research and engineering practice on AAC load-bearingwalls in the future. Finally, a simplified formula for calculating the seismic resistant capacity oflateral loading of walls was suggested, through the analysis of the experiments dataand the actuality of present calculating methods. The results of calculation coincidedwell with those from experiments.
