It has been a general consensus for modern people thatsustainable growth is the model of future human development.Urbanization and urban modernization is the general trend of thehuman development. 21st century will become a society world. Withthe progress of the urban modernization, renovation of old city hasbeen a major challenge faced by many cities in China. The articlecaptured this latest movement in time, and set renewal andrenovation of Tianjin's Zujie district as an example to carry out ananalysis and research from the aspect of sustainable development,aiming to identify and summarize the findings, and furthermore toproduce some feasible strategies from the process. The article begins with introduction of practices ofconservation of cultural and architectural heritages conducted both inChina and overseas. The article continues with the summarization ofChina's approach to protect feature architectures and historicalblocks. Based on detailed survey and conclusions on renewal of the5th Ave., renovation of Heping Road and preservation and rebuild ofItalian-style scenic district in Tianjin's Zujie district, the articlepoints out existing problems in Tianjin's old city renovation effortsand respective solutions to cope with the challenges. In the end, thearticle proposes some feasible strategies for city's protection offeature architectures in the future.
