A Culture Study On Pavement Landscape

All of human built environment have their context and reasons, at the same time, they have their methods and rules forming them. Chinese landscape has come through resplendence and downturn, and what has affected Chinese landscape?This thesis bases on Cultural Philosophy, Cultural Geography, Semeiology and Landscape Study and so on to study one inscape of landscape—pavement. Building on national and foreignal theories in the fields of culture, landscape, cultural landscape and landscape symboly, the thesis analyses and discusses a lot of Chinese classical gardens pavement and modern landscape pavement. Following the time venation, the thesis sums up the characters of every period and analysed the cultural reasons of pavement landscape and search the connection between landscape and culture.Culture changing is the main reason of landscape evolution, landscape is the carrier and expression of culture.
