Fuel tank is one of the important components of the fuel supply system in motorcycle. The motorcycle fuel oil tank is the fuel oil supplies system key component. Regarding rides the type motorcycle, but also wants the as desired fuel oil tank modeling artistic and must be consistent with the entire vehicle modeling style. Its outer covering structure size big, pulls the depth high, the faces of moulds are complex;The surface quality requests high, its quality directly affects the motorcycle overall image and the performance;Traditionally, a new type must go through several rounds of modification and longtime refining, this always lead to a high financial pressure and waste of time. Using the simulation method to carry on the computer simulation to the sheet forming process, may substitute tests of actual moulds, forecast possibly defects of produces during the forming process, provides the reliable criterions and the reasonable technical parameters for the product production, thus the simulation has the vital significance.The main idea of this paper is to utilize the modern CAD/CAE technique to design a metal fuel tank for a newly developed car-type 125 at its design stage. After settle the geometric structure of the fuel tank, based on the discussion of the forming parameters we carried out the simulation of the forming process of the fuel tank to make sure its manufacture feasibility. Some control methods were also put forward to ensure the forming quality of the fuel tank.Firstly, this article through carried on the scanning to this fuel tank oil clay model to obtain its three dimensional spot coordinates data;according to this data the author established the geometrical model of type 125 fuel tank using 3D software UG, And has carried on the assembly.Secondly, during stamping simulation of motorcycle tank, results are affected by parameters related to blank and mould, selection of punch virtual velocity, blank-hold force, and radius of die and friction coefficient to effect of simulation precision is analyzed.Finally, the forming process simulation of type 125 fuel tank was carried out, the defects, such as optimizing the draw-bead and blank-hold force, were adopted to avoid splitting and wrinkling. During this research the reasonable artificial mould speed was discussed, considering the energy and the deformation type, the author come to the conclusion that the mould speed should not exceed 10m/s, otherwise the excessive inertia effect will lead to an improper result.
