Influenced complicatedly by many factors, such as design normal, material, traffic, maintainence and accident etc, a lot of concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridges have been damaged, going to influence their service, and need to be maintained or strengthened in time. Tocounter this situation, certain problems as following are combined to study with the Bridge of a long CFST arch bridge in the West in the paper, which can be a reference for the later similar works.(1)In order to assess the arch stress level, deflection and its capacity of bearing the weight, the finite element method analysis model is established firstly. Contemporary, we'll have a quantitative knowing about the bridge's mechanics behaviors.(2) Full detection and load test are carried out roundly and detailedly to evaluated the current work situation of the arch bridge, we can compare the data measured in the field with the theoretical results, and judge structural damage and bearing capacity much more correctly. Then, according to the detection and test results, the paper gives the formative reasons of its malfunction, actual engineering structure, validateing that the method combined field testing with numerical simulation is a perfect method to detect structural damage and bearing capacity. In addition, discuss some criterion items about the vibrant test in "Specificatian for Inspection and Evaluation of Load-bearing of Highway Bridge".(3) The choice and design about arch bridge servicing and reinforcing scheme has much effect on reinforcing projects' quality. Every reinforcing and servicin technology has its own advantages and disadvantages and applicability. When we choose scheme, we should combine each project's character, aim at different bridge diseases, integratedly use each kind of reinforcing technical methods, and think over integrated economic guideline, can achieve technical credibility, economic credibility, convenience construction.The paper give the design for consolidating and maintaining reference.It's feasible to adopt same advisable detection consolidate and maintain to rehabilitate and enhance bearing capacity of brige with damage,prolong its use andmeet the traffic require of our modernization.This paper is not only academic significant,but also has its ulility.
