First of all, characteristics, developments and classifications of concrete-filled steel tube bridges are introduced.Hot topics of concrete-filled steel tube bridges are summarized. Then,Engineering general situations of a 280 m concrete-filled steel tube bridge are introduced in detail.A model of the bridge, whose slings are modeled by truss element and the rest structures of the bridge are modeled by beam element,is simulated by MIDAS/CIVIL.Then,deformations,stresses,internal forces and stabilities are calculated and analyzed in two stages which are construction stage and service stage. And the performance of the bridge in ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state is checked on the basis of Specifications for Design of Highway Concrete-filled Steel Tubular Arch Bridges.Furthermore,Ritz method is used to calculate self-vibration characteristics of bridges. The response of the bridge in earthquake is analyzed by methods of E1 response spectrum and linear time-history.What is more, detailed simulation is established by using MIDAS/FEA,and the bottom structures of arch rib uses solid element to simulate.Stress of bottom of arch bridge is calculated under dead and live load.According to result, two optimizations are put forward.
