This paper is original from "On-line Measuring System for Cragged Surface on Special Working Conditions", supported by the Science and Technology Research Foundation of Anhui Province. One aim of this project is to research on the technique of measuring geometric parameters on train wheel profile applying stereovision measurement technology.People have been researching on the techniques of measuring geometric parameters on train wheel profile for decades at home and abroad. Many techniques have been achieved and proved to be practical. They have been changed from traditional mechanical and contact measurement to photoelectric techniques. With the development of computer image processing and photoelectric techniques, stereovision measurement techniques have been widely used in industrial measurement. The stereovision measurement techniques will be used for the measurement of on-line train wheel profile parameters.Two linear laser lights used in the measuring system project to the surface of the wheel. The pictures are collected by the left and right CCD, and dealed with PC to find out the data of the curve of the wheel profile and account for the parameters.The author independently works on: building model of the dynamic measuring system, the research of the method of curves connecting, the analysis and improving of the static and dynamic measure system errors, and the system soft ware integration.
