The successful operation of High-speed Maglev train in Shanghai indicates inevitability of universal application. The super high speed of maglev train makes heavy demands of safe assurance and reliable control system. Whenever the maglev train encounters trouble, the drive force is cut off and the eddy brake system begins to work and assures that the train stop safely and accurately. So the performance of Eddy Current Brake (ECB) system and the control system in emergency are the problems that need to be researched on. Studying on the ECB technology is on the way of preliminary stage in China. Once a breakthrough appears in this key technology, it will provide safe assurance for credible operation, as well as be suitable for other high-speed traffic system. The thesis proceeds from an overview of operation control system and safe speed protection system of TR08 Maglev train, and introduces the ECB control system and the operational principle. The ECB system of the Maglev has nonlinear and hysteresis characteristics. On the basis of principle, the electromagnetic analytical method and finite element analytical method (FEA) are used to analyze the brake magnetic field. In the second place, the FEA model of parameterized ECB system, according to real information of TR08, is set up in ANSYS. The model is validated by experimental data. Based on this simulated test platform, the relation between magnetic force and velocity, excitation current, air gap are analyzed in details, as well as the mathematical relation between those variables are given in Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) curve-fitting method. Subsequently, the optimized design parameters and the influence of malfunction in different parts of ECB system are given.Furthermore, Fuzzy controller is designed for the emergent brake control system. The simulation of this controller is given in MATLAB with perfect performances in different road conditions. Finally, a brief summarize of this thesis is given, and several important problems of the Maglev train are discussed.
