In this paper the optimal design of the hydro-junction of Pailou tubular turbine hydropower station has been studied. Based on the characteristics of hydrology, geology and geomorphology in Pailou tubular turbine hydropower station as well as the economic operation of power station, it is analyzed for the present problems in original design such as the arrangement of the hydro-junction, the relations among the hydraulic structures, energy dissipaters and the tail water channel by using the universal principles of the tubular turbine hydropower station.Through the optimal calculations and physical model tests, some results have been obtained in follows: shorted 24 m and 2.78 m in the net length of over-flow crest and the base width of the dam, decreased 10~20 m in the length of downstream apron, composing machine of the bulkhead and trash rack and so on.Now, Pailou tubular turbine hydropower station has been operated for more one year. It has been proved that the optimal design of the hydro-junction of Pailou tubular turbine hydropower station is suitable.
