In recent years,some asphalt concrete core rockfill dams are built on non-uniform thick overburden cover, such as Yele Hydropower Station,the depth of overburden cover is about 420m. in the period of construction and water impounding,the status of stress and deformation of dam body ,asphalt concrete core wall and concrete imperious wall are all complicated.Combined with the practical project of Longtoushi Dam, this paper studies the safety and stability of Longtoushi Dam by 3-D nonlinear FEM analysis, and gets some useful conclusions and advice.The primary contents are as folio wings:1 -, Based on some material ,The development of asphalt concrete core rockfill dam and constitutive relationship of concrete, are reviewed in this paper.2, Based on the plastic theory, a elastic-plastic constitutive model for concrete was derived using the yield criterion of Ottosen.at last,the rationality of the elastic-plastic constitutive model is validated by the results of experiment.3, A 3D FEM calculating program which add a new elastic-plastic constitutive model to TSDA, is applied to analysis a practical project.4, In this paper,3D nonlinear FEM analysis for a high earth-rockfill dam and its foundation cutoff,and successfully simulate the process of the construction of dam . According to the calculated results, the problems, such as hydraulic fracturing in the core and the mechanical interaction of cutoff-dam-foundation system, the comparison between the results of the elastic model and the elastic-plastic model, the feasibility of adopt plastic concrete as impermeable body ,the influence of Young's modulus on cutoff wall, were discussed, the results can be used as the reference of engineering design and operation, in addition ,Some useful conclusion are presented.5, This paper combines professional software GID, achieve visual numerical model of dam body,concrete cutoff and porch, and deal with the calculation results conveniently. The method of the actualization of preprocessing and postprocessing by GID are also discussed.
