Most of the earth-rock dam were built in different periods after liberation, however, there are variety of security risks because of the limit of design and construction level and serious aging dam body after many years operation. Therefore, the state spends national debt funds on the Reservoir reinforcement every year.At present, there is a total number of 3488 dangerous reservoirs in Jiangxi Province, which the earth-rock dam accounted for the largest proportion, moreover, most of them have experienced seepage failure problems. Concrete seepage reinforcement technique is widely applied for Seepage reinforcement projects, However, the development of the theory of concrete cutoff wall technology research has appeared behind compared with its engineering application. It is necessary to do researches on the coordination of the surrounding soil deformation, stress on the dam deformation after concrete cutoff wall used, and the working mechanism of the dam.In this paper, the application of the existing situation of dam concrete cutoff wall are summarized. after reading a lot of reference.Take an actual reinforcement dam project for example, the contact state between concrete cutoff wall and the soil around is fully considered, and the finite element models before and after concrete reinforcement core wall are established to compare the stress and deformation, furthermore, the effects caused by the changes of the material parameters (elastic modulus) and thickness and location to dam stress, and deformation are analyzed and made the recommended values of these parameters to reinforce the dam project.
