Study On The Function And Structure Of CRD Of Medium-sized Cities In Guanzhong Region

Central Retail District (CRD), as the carrier of currencies of commerce, commodity, currency, value and information, is the most active and energetic part of one city. It's essential to understand the formation and development of CRD, and know its functional and structural layout in the city space. Doubtlessly control over dynamic mechanism of CRD development and evolution plays an important role in the development of the city and the region.Four medium-sized cities of Xianyang, Baoji, Weinan and Tongchuan, which were in Guanzhong region, were chosen to be research objects. Based on the domestic and foreign theories about economy and urban planning, the paper analyzed the development background of CRD in those cities. Taken into consideration the regional characteristics, their layout, structure and function were compared. The dynamic mechanism of the development and evolution of these Central Retail Districts was concluded and the factors limiting the development of CRD were pointed. The function orientation and position orientation for the future development of CRD in Guanzhong region were qualitatively assessed, considering the city development and tendency. The scale of CRD in the last period of urban planning (in 2020) was quantitatively computed in the proportion of employment and accordingly the predicted results were obtained. Lastly, for the sake of the improvement of industrial structure, reasonable layout of city and towns, and rapid, healthy, harmonious development of regional economy, the paper presented the sustainable development strategy for the medium-sized cities in Guanzhong region from five aspects such as the whole regional planning , the management of urban planning to instruct city development and the implementation of urban planning.
