Therefore, the study of small and medium-sized city new district planningis of great significance.First of all, the paper collected data using literature retrieval and field survey method,then divided and analyzed the types and characteristics of the new urban districts as well asthe new theory and practice at home and abroad. Therefore, we can get some enlightenmentabout the new urban district planning construction. Then the thesis pointed out that rapidurbanization has brought opportunities to the development of small and medium-sized citiesin the new period, and urban spatial expansion is the effective means to realize theirdevelopment. Through the comparative analysis of the new city space expansion of thepower factor, power subject and promote the development of type, this paper emphasis onnew strategic positioning is the key to the development of new district. Subsequentlycombined with three instances of the new district planning of small and medium-sized citiesin southern, central, and northern Anhui, from their developing orientation, functionstructure, style and shape, traffic planning and construction, with the survey, analyzed theadvantages and shortcomings of planning. On this basis, combining with the trend of thedevelopment of new district and the macro level, the content of planning of the new districtin the small and medium-sized cities space focusing on, this paper put forward sevenstrategies of small and medium-sized city new district planning space optimization:rationally determine the new strategic positioning, scientific prediction of the scale of theproject; Choose the new location benefit for the long-term development; Reasonable controlthe scale of new district and intensive urban land layout; Shape characteristic of small andmedium-sized city new district; Advocate efficient mode of transportation; Organizationobeys the law of market construction schedule; For multi-dimensional participation in urbanplanning management.
