The Grope About Theory Method And Design And The Applied Research In Typical Region Of China Of Concept Planning

As an essential principle of function coordination and management for the city, urban planning plays an important role in the process of urban development. Recently, based on the emergence of new city functions, there are some disadvantages about our existing Urban Master Plan. According to our practice, the academe and government attach importance to the application and development of Concept Planning. Quite a lot of cities have already adopted the Concept Planning Theory as the guideline of urban development.This dissertation focuses on the grope of theory method and design process of Concept Planning. The obvious feature about this dissertation is the using of the demonstration study. The case of Caijiapo district, which is an industrial town in Shaanxi province, sets a good example for identifying the application of Concept Planning. The aim of dissertation is to predict the development trend of Concept Planning Research, by means of reviewing the develop—course of Concept Planning and practical application.This dissertation is divided into four main sections. In this first section, it reviews the develop— course of Concept Planning at home and abroad, and summarizes the fundamental characteristics about Concept Planning. In the second section, by comparing with other planning theories, this dissertation clarifies the objects of Concept Planning. The third section makes a detailed analysis about Concept Planning, including technical route and the process of design. The last one sets a good example--Xian and Caijiapo district. That provides a critical evidence to support the dissertation.Based on the above analysis, the conclusion of this dissertation about Concept Planning is as follows. To start with, it is necessary to separate Concept Planning from Urban Master Plan, although both of them can be regarded as the guidelines of city construction. To some extent, Urban Master Plan is subordinate to Concept Planning. In addition, this dissertation generalizes research content and method of Concept Planning and emphasizes the multiple levels research methods, referring to problem analysis, competence analysis and so on. Furthermore, this dissertation identifies the technical route and design process of Concept Planning. The design process of Concept Planning should refer to three phases, which are planning, analysis and implementation. Finally, based on the success of Xian and Caijiapo district, this dissertation suggests that it is essential and significant to encourage the application of Concept Planning in the new developing urbanization region, and the undeveloped economic city in the central and western of China.
