Intermediary stations are the basic railway productive unit and play a important role in developing the production of industry and agriculture, communicating the material between city and country, confirming the national safety, constructing the socialism modernization. It becomes the weakness spot of safety production because of its location which is along the railway and in outlying place, its outdated and simple devices, its uneducated personnel, especially its problems in management. The dangerous factors can be identified, analysed and evaluated by transport safety evaluation for the case of taking effective safety measures. The existing safety evaluations are always at the level of railway administration or the professional evaluations. But the safety evaluations aiming at the characteristics of intermediary stations are lake. So it is necessary and pressing to finish safety evaluation on intermediary stations. It is difficult to make quantitative analyse and evaluate because of the special status of intermediary stations, various influence factors and hardness of collecting data. Even if the quantitative evaluation can be made, it always loses the veracity. According to the safety status and the operation process of intermediary stations, this paper analyses the safety management characteristics, operation flows and safety influence factors. Based on the analysis and simplification of primary accident tree, it establishes the safety checking tables of intermediary stations. Then it makes a case analysis of safety checking tables. Finally, it puts forward some safety measures to improve habitual accidents and makes the safety evaluation of intermediary stations.
