A Study On The Applicability Of Pavement For Senile People

Our country is becoming a community which has more and more senile people. Owing to debility on physiology and psychology, descension on social class of senile people, there will be some change on traffic characteristic and traffic demand of them. So it is necessary to study the applicability of pavement for senile people.Firstly, through analyzing the identities of physiology, psychology and society on senile people ,combined with the research on this topic, traffic behavior and traffic demand on senile community is summarized. It is also analyzed that when to devise the present pavements, which measures should be adopted.Secondly, through the questionnaires from 100 persons that are all elder than sixty in ChengDu, the source materials about senile communities' traffic behavior and traffic demand is obtained. And it is demonstrated the relativity of individual identity and traffic characteristic of senile community by difference test.Thirdly, by collecting design criterion it is. studied that the relation between traffic behavior and traffic design, and the essential points which need to be consider when designing the system of pavement.Lastly, an index system consisting of safety, comfort and fluency is put forward, which have an evaluation pattern including many quantitative indexes to evaluate whether a pavement suits senile community. To prove the index system, the pavement system of TianFu Square is analyzed as an illustration.
