In china, it becomes one of the key technologies to perform the deep foundation pit and high slope engineering economically, speedily, and effectually due to the underground, road, and civil engineering rising rapidly with the economics recently. Amount many support skills of foundation pit digging, soil nailing support system is used extensively because of its numerous advantages, such as less materials and labor consume, speedy construction, convenient equipments, simply manipulation, fine compatibility to different space and soil, well ductility, smaller building site, safety and economy. However, the straggler theoretical analysis and uncompleted analytical methods hamper its wilder practice. Therefore, it is necessary to carry on theoretical study on soil nailing support system. In the present work, the Catastrophe theory based on the system science will be introduced into the theory analysis on the soil nailing support. The un-continually alteration was studied instead of continually, smoothly alteration. The common fold catastrophe and cusp catastrophe was employed to analysis the soil in the soil nailing support system and the friction between soil and soil nailing, furthermore, the power function and the vertical displacement of foundation pit are applied as the respond variable and control variable respectively to solve the critical displacement when the catastrophe occurs in foundation pit. Through it the safety evaluation is executed afterwards.Eventually, the detailed calculation process of the critical displacement for soil nailing support was described by the use of a real example. It calculated two critical displacements when the soil occurred catastrophe or the friction occurred catastrophe and determined that soil nailing support system's broken style through those two critical displacements.
