The purpose of the research on the regional architecture culture lies in analysis of the historical succession and regional differences and it reveals the development and evolution laws of this regional architecture culture. According to the original research, there remain about 124 ancient pagodas in Guanzhong area, among which there are 16 pagodas of Tang Dynasty, 21 pagodas of Song and Jin Dynasty and 87 pagodas of Ming and Qing Dynasty. All these remained ancient pagodas demonstrate strongly the nature of historical succession and regional differences. On the basis of combining arrangement and distinction the materials related to the ancient pagodas with investigation on the spot, this essay by the means of researching historical geography to describe and analyze its characteristic of culture reveals its characteristic of succession and differences in structure , scale , property , distributed region and culture intension ,etc, and to summarize the development and evolution laws. Thus it offers reference for research, protection and development of today's regional ancient pagodas in Guanzhong area. This essay is divided into four parts altogether:Chapter one: The discussion about several questions of the culture of regional architecture culture. This chapter has mainly discussed the purpose of studying the regional architecture culture, the function of the theory and method of historical geography which is in the field of the regional architecture culture and pagoda's architecture culture in Guanzhong area. Thus it establishes the foundation for the further investigationChapter two: From "pagoda shadow coming from the east" to "the infatuated sky," that is, the origin, the development and the evolution of China's ancient pagodas. This chapter mainly describes the origin, the development and the evolution of the ancient pagodas in China to reveal that the China's ancient pagodas inheriting stupa of India are incorporated with the psychological content of certain times and particular society of Chinese nation. The development and evolution of pagoda mainly display in two aspects: structure and function.
