The measurement of acceleration is necessary in many fields. A laser accelerometer based on PSD is described in this paper. A new pattern position sensitive detector is introduced, so the accelerometer has many advantages including high sensitivity ,high resolution and quick response speed. A binary width-modulated pulse rebalance loop is applied in the accelerometer. The accelerometer can be used in aeronautics and astronautics, inertial navigation, seismic inspection and petroleum exploitation, etc., so the research on the laser accelerometer based on PSD is significant.Firstly, the structure of the laser accelerometer based on PSD are designed in this dissertation. The relation between the output pulse difference and the input acceleration is derived. Starting with the transducing mechanism, the relation between spot displacement and the displacement of sensing element is derived . The back light on the light-sensitive surface of the PSD is sorted and the method to erase it is discussed.Secondly, the dissertation proves the binary width-modulated loop has linear character when the pulse width is not saturated. According to the inherent frequency characteristic and the needed frequency characteristic of the system, the transfer function of the correcting part of the system is derived.Thirdly, the signal processing circuit is designed in the dissertation.Finally, SIMULINK is used in the simulation of the accelerometer and the results show that the measuring principle of the accelerometer is scientific. The future development of this accelerometer can create extensive prospect.
