Previous methods to study performance of single pile and pile group under vertical loads are reviewed at first and present research development aboard and in China is discussed in detail. Then the three dimensional nonlinear finite element theory, the nonlinear constitutive relations of soil and the nonlinear contact between pile and soil are introduced. FEM program ANSYS and ADINA are used to analyze general constitutive relations of soil. Based on the above work, the pile-soil interactive models in ANSYS are setted up , and these models can well simulate initial stress in soil and stress relaxation induced by drugging soil . Load-displacement curves of single pile and related data are obtained by simulation analysis. Finally, some components of the models such as pile-soil modulus ratio, pile length—radius ratio, rock-socketed depth are discussed to study the performance of single pile foundation ,and some valuable points are concluded.
