With the U-tube heat exchanger of shell-and-tube heat exchanger for research subject, applying U-tube heat exchanger tube-sheet design standards GB151-1999 shell-and-tube heat exchanger, using MATLAB to model and program, the paper develops U-tube heat exchanger tube-sheet thickness design system. Change the U-tube heat exchanger design parameters, then get the thickness value diagrams and a series of thickness curves of different conditions, analyzing the curves and get the optimized conclusion that are U-tube heat exchanger tube-sheet thickness has certain proportional relationship with the pressure head and small pressure head together with big diameter parameters should be selected to design a U-tube heat exchanger, which are consistent with the information from related references and standards. It shows that the U-tube heat exchanger tube-sheet thickness design model constructed in the paper is reasonable. By comparing the optimized results with the exiting traditional engineering design method confirms the model confidence level and the merit.The paper also analyses the tube numbers and heat-exchange area variation trends of different diameters. It also represents the material selection, fabrication, installation and detection of U-tube heat exchanger. By analyzing the heat exchanger development trend and new developed space transmission heat exchanger technique progress of our country, thus predicting that the heat exchanger will develop to the high temperature, high pressure and large scale direction. The design and research of the paper has certain reference value to shell-and-tube heat exchanger especially U-tube heat exchanger engineering design.
