With the rapid development of electric and electronic technique, computer technique and control theory, the technique of high voltage direct current (HVDC) is continuously perfect. HVDC transmission system has more advantages than high voltage alternating current (AC) transmission system in some sides, specially in the area of large-power and long-distance transmit electricity, seabed cable transmit electricity and asynchronous connection between AC systems, et al. our country electrical network is progressing, and it is imperative under the situation to implement west electricity transmitted the east, mutual supply between the south and the north and networking between the regions, and is inevitable trend to adopting AC and DC hybrid transmission system.This paper proposes the trend of development in the home and foreign currently from the study existing condition of the DC transmission. And the basic theory of the DC transmission converter has been analyzed and derived, which is treated as the theory gist of the converter's subsequent design. Also, the control and regulating methods that the DC transmission exists have been expounded, and proposes the main realization method and merits and faults, which supply the gist for the system design. This paper designs the 100KVA SCR 12-pasation converting system based on the theory analysis. It also simulates the main scheme in the total design, which guarantees the design feasibility. In the side of system integration, PROFIBUS bus technique is introduced as the network platform; remote supervisory and control adopts MCGS configuration software; using PLC as the approximate control unit; digital controllable silicon firing controller is the control core of converter valves. Finally, this paper obtains the test data through type approval test for the total system. Compared with the simulation results, it proves the well operating characteristic of the designed 100KVA 12-pastation converting system, which could satisfies the engineering demand.
