The building with atriums is different from common buildings in characteristic, which has high interspaces, large space and large glass housetop or glass curtain wall. The atrium exhibits the extraordinary value as a cultural, economical, recreational and communication center, which make it popular in various public buildings. But during the actual using, many atriums expose that people only focus on the whole vision effect of the building and ignore the influence from weather and environment to the building. It causes some problems such as atriums design unreasonable and energy consume is too high. If we do not consume a lot of energy for heating and cooling, we can't meet the demand of the users in comfort degree.High-rise residential buildings with atriums play an important role in residential buildings, which is the primary area for human being living. In recent years, high-rise residential buildings are in popular, which attract the scholars' attention to the environment of the high-rise residential building with atriums. The author investigated and field measured the high-rise residential building with atriums in Changsha, which has typical the weather of Summer Hot and Winter Cold district of china. This paper introduced the shape and characteristic of the building, made sure the main factors of influencing indoor thermal environment, analyzed and compared the difference of indoor thermal environment in different weather, evaluated the indoor thermal environment in high-rise residential building and compared the results with international criterion, using model analyzed the ventilation status in atrium, displayed the main cause of influencing the ventilation in atrium, pointed out the adaptability of resident and the different problems of each dwelling which produced during seeking a comfortable environment and put forward constructive measurements to solve them.Atrium is the core of the residential building with atrium, whether the atrium is reasonable can influence residential indoor environment directly. Because of residential building is the main location for peoples rest, thus the residential indoor sonic and photic environment is significant. This paper analyzed residents' evaluation of indoor sonic and photic environment, and pointed out efficient measurements to improve the indoor sonic environment and photic environment, which can provide reference and guidance for high-rise residential building with atrium design.
