Aiming at solving the problem of high temperature and strong infrared target because of the exhaust out of the conventional submarine, cooling silencer with water spray for exhaust is designed based on simulation. The characteristic of this silencer is that the cooling water is injected into exhaust directly. The temperature of exhaust could fall greatly using water' s characteristic of absorbing much energy when it evaporating. The efficiency of wet cooling for this equipment is much better than the dry cooling. The negative influence to dynamic performance of the exhaust is very small and the exhaust noise is reduced in a certain extent. This article analyses elaborately the performance of the nozzle in common use firstly and introduces the silencer structure and the disposal scheme for nozzles. Based on the analysis and study, simplified method for the computation on the flow field of the silencer with water spray is introduced. Gas-particle flow in silencer is simulated and computed by the CFD software. The result proves that using the silencer with water spray could achieve the intention predicted to cool exhaust. Finally simulative experiment for silencer with water spray is carried on experiment desk for exhaust silencer which is rebuilt. Results from the experiment tally with simulative results well. It is clear that adjusting the quantity of the cooling water reasonably could control the temperature of the exhaust. And the temperature could get to 60°C for lowest. The resistance loss because of the equipment is very small, and the noise attenuation could get to 14. 9dBA for biggest.
