Motor test system plays an important part in motor manufacture. The development of computer control technology, electronics and motor control technology promote motor test technique. Motor automatic test system with good precision and speed can dynamically test the motor and automatically control the testing process. Therefore, it has widely outlook in application and marketing.Direct Torque Control technique is easy to control, and has advantages in control precision and dynamic characteristic. Using DTC controlled motor to build AC dynamometer is an ideal scheme and is now becoming the focus in dynamometer control research field.LabVIEW has the characteristics of easy-to-use and fast developing process, etc. Therefore, it is suitable to develop user-friendly, high integration and modularized testing software.This paper researches motor testing theory, summarizes the motor testing system as well as dynamometer's development and trend, analyzes the steady operation condition of dynamometer, introduces the DTC technique and analyzes the motor drive and generation condition of DTC controlled motor. In this paper, a DTC control system model is build up in Matlab/Simulink and the DTC controlled motor's drive and generation condition are also simulated.In this paper, ABB's DTC inverter ASC800 and induction motor are used to build up the dynamometer. The induction motor is connected with the motor under testing. The control software is developed by NI's LabVIEW and can dynamically test the motor. During the testing process, the inverter uploads the parameters and receives the control command by MODBUS module. The testing software can monitor and calculate the parameters, store the testing data into file and draw the speed—torque curve of motor.The experiment results show that, using dynamometer composed by DTC controlled motor and virtual instrument can fast and efficiently develop the modularized, intelligent, high-integration and simple motor test system to precisely and dynamically testing the motor.
