ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is an important safe technique for automobile and has effect on people's life directly. As the key component of ABS system, the hydraulic control unit (also known as HCU) influences the performance of ABS remarkably. In this paper, ABS HCU is discussed and one testing system that can measure HCU works well or wrong is developed.Firstly, HCU static characteristics, dynamic characteristics, and test standard are discussed and studied; meanwhile vehicle dynamics models and simulation, including vehicle system model, vehicle tyre model and brake model are established for real-time simulation with MATLAB/Simulink software.Secondly, a testing system for HCU is developed based on virtual instrument. The system uses DAQ card to acquire physical signal coming from sensors, then transmits the signal to computer by PCI BUS. Its software uses the graphic programming language LabVIEW. The software of the system can control the data acquiring, and make data display real-time, bitter real-time, alarming real-time, data analyzing, data saving and printing report form. Furthermore, the software is excellent in operating simply, manipulating handily and flexibly, perfect function and favorable human-machine interface.Finally, the paper analyses the testing results of static characteristics, dynamic characteristics of HCU. The conclusion can be drawn that this testing system is proved to be very useful in engineering application, has a good expansibility and high cost performance, easy to develop.
