The application of magetorheological fluids (MRF) to shock absorber of automobile suspension have been taken much account in automotive engineering and caused people's attention and regarded as that can realize intelligent controlling and enhance the vibration absorption performance of automobile. In recent years, some domestic scholars have been doing researches and making designs of the automobile MRF shock absorber, but there are still few literatures and studies about MRF shock absorber used on motorcycle. Therefore, according to structural characteristic and technical actuality , there must be some academic and technical value for the application of MRF on motorcycle shock absorber.In view of the progress of MR techniques and motorcycle suspension techniques, some MR damping techniques for motorcycle suspension systems have been presented in this dissertation in order to progress the MR fluids and motorcycle suspension techniques based on MR shock absorber. This dissertation introduces the design and experiment on motorcycle MRF shock absorber in the following aspects.â‘  On the basis of analyzing mechanism of magnetorheology, some models used to characterize MR effect have been summed up. The reasons, which influence MR effect and sedimentary stability of MRF, etc, are analyzed according to models above mentioned.â‘¡ The working principle of MRF shock absorber have been analyzed and that damping force affected by MR shock absorber consists of background damping generated by resistance of MRF and damping caused by magnetic field have been. Demonstrated. And also the magnetic circuit, stuff parameter and structure of motorcycle MR shock absorber have been Designed.â‘¢ The analysis of the factors that effect damping force of motorcycle MR shock absorber and MATLAB simulation have been done.â‘£ Experimental study of MRF shock absorber.The experiments on motorcycle MRF shock absorber have been taken and the correctness and validity of the designing and analyzing method mentioned above have been confirmed .The application studies and product designs should be carried on based on the methods in this dissertation.
