This paper introduces the idea of the design of the instrument for trolley of traversing box girder and the mechanism of it. The design goal of the instrument is to traverse the box girder smoothly which weight is 900 tons. Taking into account the practical situation, the design of this trolley reduces the production costs and achieves economic practical purposes. In this paper the mechanism of the ball-rollaway and the calculation of the contact stress is highlighted, the design of the hydraulic cylinder of raising the box girder is also highlighted. Among them, the principle of the mechanism of the ball-rollaway is similar the ballscrew principle, this mechanism turns sliding friction into rolling friction and enormous reduced the friction resistance, enhanced the working efficiency.
