Suspendome is a new-type hybrid spacial structure system, and is put forward basing on the concept of combining tensegrity and cable dome with single-layer reticulate dome. Contrasted to the single-layer reticulate dome, suspendome has the characteristic of high rigidity, good stability and light weight etc, contrasted to the double-layer reticulate dome, it has the characteristic of novel structure type, slinky figure and saving space etc. It can span a larger space economically, reasonably and graciously. This paper analysed the characteristic of suspendome and it's researching status, generalized the internal and international researching fruit, brought forward the problems to be settled urgently in the suspendome research. With the design of Badminton Arena for 2008 Olympic Games, the more systemic and comprehensive theoretic study was made to super-large span suspendome.This paper introduced the composition and classification of suspendome, generalized the nonlinear finite element computing methods.Analysis to suspend-dome and single layer reticulate is conducted separately to the five type suspendomes which have same span but different rise-span , including force, displacement, eigenvalue buckling, nonlinear buckling, load-displacemnt tracking and nonlinear ultimate carrying capacity, every performance of suspendome was expatiated in the paper. Throught the comparation between supsendome and single layer reticulate, the advantages of suspend-dome was expatiated.Through the analysis of Lamella's, rib-loop, rib-loop tilted bar typeâ… â…¡â…¢shell, the influence of lattice type to member's force, joint's displacement, reaction, intergral stability was studied, the suitable lattice type for suspendome was put forward. The influence of some design parameters, such as density of net, rise-span ratio, height of strut, prestressing tension of cable, are analyzed, some economical and reasonable optimized parameters were gotten. Valuable conclusion in engineering are drawn for practical design. The method of getting reasonable prestress degree for suspendoem which is restricted by intergral stability was discussed.
