| Rail transport is one of main traffic modes in our country. It plays an important role in our national economy. With the development of high-speed train, the demand of lower weight is higher and higher. Nowadays, a large proportion of the mass of carbody is on the load-supporting structure. We should complete the lightening weight of bodywork with the condition of intensity and stiffness. In general, lightening weight of bodywork is achieved by using light-duty material and optimizing the structure. Because industry of locomotive and vehicle has fallen behind, high-speed train in our country is mostly made of steel. The optimization of the structure of bodywork becomes one main way of lightening weight.Genetic Algorithms has its strongpoints in the field of structure optimization. Traditional methods of optimization usually can't take the linking of differential variables into account adequately. Genetic Algorithms can solve this kind- of problem. It actualizes combination of different variables.Because of characteristics of genetic algorithms, a great deal of account is needed. It restricts the use of genetic algorithms. We build the model of structure optimization of carbody based on genetic algorithms. Cross-section and topology of cross beams between sleeper beams of underframe are considered as design variables. The constraint condition is stress and displacement. The bodywork is analyzed by FEA software MSC.Marc. Aiming at low rapidity of convergence, we use improved genetic algorithms(IGA).
