Mechanical product structure design is the important content in the design. Itis generally based on function. The paper studies it's principium, method andtechnology in the field of function.The first, the paper puts forward the self-organizing conceptual design theorybased on Graphics Modelon, the design information is expressed by functionalstructure cell and genetic model. Mechanical product genetic model characteristicis summarized and concluded, by parameter modeling, genetic modelon libraryand functional structure cell library are built.Then, design code, cooperate code and fig code made self-organizingassembly technique true and reduced the difficulty of program.Then, the part's conceptual design is accomplish by building the 3Dfunctional structure cell library and the product information codes, using theself-organizing assembly technology to get functional model;Based on 3D geneticmodel library and the principium of graphics substitution, the system is opened upby Variable design and second development and edit arithmetic to realized entitymodel's dynamic structure edit;the dynamic data exchange is realized by ADOcontrol ware and the variable data array in order to accomplish detail design.The end, the design method can make the CAD system joined with devisers'thought to produce entity model, achieve intelligent and automatic design.
