Active power optimization is an important part for economical operation in power systems.It has the significance for ensuring the quality, the security and the economy in power systems.At the Chapter Two of this paper, we made a detailed introduction of forming admittance matrixes in power systems and a mathematics model and procedure of Newton-Raphson power flow calculation. At the Chapter Three, we derived Admittance Matrix Method, Jacobian Matrix Method, Transposed Jacobi Matrix Method and Simplified Jacobian Matrix Method for calculating Active Incremental transmission losses. The methods are clearly analysed and compared. At the Chapter Four, we gave a derivation for the equations of the classical active power optimization. Examples are given to validate the method and simplified one, they are correct methods and have characters of themselves. These methods are recommended in consideration of rapid calculating speed, less memory requirements and higher computational accuracy. In addition, the softwares are made for these four methods of incremental transmission losses.Since the classical methods have difficulties for solving the valve-point effect problem, therefore, the improved Genetic Algorithm was uses to solve active power optimization in the paper. The Chapter Five summarizes the simple Genetic Algorithm and algorithm flow, and introduces Adaptive Genetic Algorithm and fuzzy control theory. Then combining Genetic Algorithm and fuzzy control theory, we designs two triple-input and single-output fuzzy controllers for P_c , P_m to proceed on-line fuzzy control. The valve point effect mathematics model is used in the Chapter Six,, and Fuzzy Adaptive Genetic Algorithm in the fifth chapter is combined to solve active power optimization.
