The problem of complicated Free Surface exists widely in hydraulic structure. Such as the flow of overflow weir,the orifice flow,the water gate sluice,the seepage flow with free surface and the flow in large dam ship lock, etc. If this kind of problem can be solved using numerical simulation, it not only can do some research on those flow structure, but can save manpower, budget and time. The paper simulates some familiar flow in hydraulic structure using fluid computational soft FLUENT, such as the water gate sluice,the flow of overflow weir and the flow of broad crested weir, the point is numerical simulation of the flow of broad crested weir, and does research on the appropriate computational model and the method of free surface adaptation, which are used in numerical simulation of water release structure turbulent flow with complicated free surface. It indicates that it is feasible that research on the problem of release structure with complicated free surface in hydraulic structure using soft FLUENT, and the results form computation are reasonable. The main tasks of this paper are the follows:1. The recent research on solving the problem of free surface has been summarized.2. It introduces briefly FLUENT , a fluid computational software, and gives some examples of flow phenomena computed by FLUENT, the results are reasonable.3.
