In the system of networked manufaturing, Information Termianl equiped in work-shop is the key equipment for implementing networked manufacturing, and makes sig-nificant sense to information communication between different departments in a enter-prise or between enterprises. The Information Termianl for networked manufacturing,pesented by our research team, can realize the transmission and communication of mul-timedia including video data. Therefor, to enterprises, it is meaningful to improve thecability of networked manufacturing and the level of informatization. The termianl is anintegrated embedded equipment of hardware and software, as to realize video applica-tion for the real-time commnication of af?uent information in this embedded terminal,on which both computation and storage resource are limited, it is desired for the termi-nal to have the coresponding video processing capability. Focused in the field of videoprocessing, video processing technologies on the terminal for networked manufacturingare studied in this paper.Firstly, international standard and recommendation about video processing, andvideo processing techonologies on embedded platform at home and aboard, are analyzedin this pater. The hardware and software architectures of terminal for networked manu-facturing are studied. As to satisfying the need for the real-time commnication of af?uentinformation, the architecture of video processing on the termianl is presented in this pa-per. Two video application systems, including the video real-time interaction and videofor machining teaching, are proposed to establis in this paper. Based on the system re-quirment analysis and the consideration of limited hardware and software resources, thewhole system architecture and scheme of implementation of the two above video appli-cation systems are presented in this paper.Then, the relative technologies, used in video real-time commnication system andmachining teaching system, are studied intensively, on the aspects of fuctions and struc-ture. These technologies consist of video and sound device drivers of the terminal, mul-timedia communication protocol, video software codecs and hardware codecs, and prob-lems encoutered when implementing above technologies are also analyzed in this paper.Finally, based on the structure analysis of the two video application system and thestudy on relative key technologies, they and their relative technologies are designed andrealized in this paper.
