As the new research direction of the major of disaster fortification and mitigation engineering, health monitoring of bridges and other important engineering structures becomes the pop research field of academical and engineering groups home and abroad in the near decades. As a very big bridge along the south to north main routeway of Chongqing main city zone, Chongqing Shibanpo Changjiang Widen Reconstructed Bridge will burden heavy traffic tasks, as the use of the bridge, the disadvantageous factors such as concrete shrinkage and creep and prestress loss will gradually become serious, the components of the bridge will be fatigued, stiffness and strength of the bridge will be attenuated to different extents. Consequently the bridge may loss its service capability under the typical loadings, or may cause the disaster more seriously. Therefore, it is indispensable to equip a set of condition monitoring and health assessment system on Shibanpo Bridge.Based on Shibanpo Bridge, this paper chooses Shibanpo Bridge health monitoring system as the research object, design of the two crucial subsystem, sensor system and safety assessment system, is especially discussed. The research work completed in this paper mainly includes:1) Find the key parts of the main structure by linear static and dynamic analysis. Analyze the design drawings, seize the characteristic of the whole structure, establish the initial 3D FEM model, and then analyze the main response of the structure under the typical loadings in order to find the key parts. Finally, by comparing modal analysis results of the initial integrated bridge and the integrated bridge under the condition of stiffness reduction of steel-concrete conjoined parts, come to a conclusion that dynamic characteristic monitoring has a light effect on the safety assessment of the integrated bridge structure.2) Determine the sensor distributing project of the health monitoring system. Mainly depending on the analysis result and referencing the service condition of the similar bridges, the key health monitoring items are analyzed. Then, by certain parameter analyses, the measure ranges of every monitoring point are determined to give foundation to the sensor selection.
