Massive damage caused by earthquakes indicates that, the intense earthquake often causes serious harm to people's life and property, and brings irretrievable economic loss. In recent years, static elastic-plastic pushover analysis with the virtue of being practical attracts more and more attention, and is incorporated into Code for seismic design of buildings (GB50011 — 2001). The main buildings in large-scale thermal power plants are a sort of important lifeline engineering, and should have better seismic behavior. Investigate on seismic behaviors of this kind of structures is of importance on practical and theoretical values. The major purpose of this paper is to operate response spectrum and pushover analysis for the structure system, to get it's seismic performance and damage characteristics.Building up a space prototype model by ETABS program, response spectrum analysis is conduct for the plants with frame-bent in the longitudinal direction and frame-shear wall in the transverse direction, to get the dynamic properties and structure deformation on 7, 8 degree seismic region, that indicted that the deformation meets elastic requirement of the code; at the same time, the mechanic of the frame cooperation with bent and the influence of split-level are studied.The theory of pushover analysis is introduced in detail, and pushover analysis is conduct for the plants, to get the situation and development of plastic hinge, and evaluate the performance of the structure: the structure system meets elastic-plastic deformation on 8 degree seismic region; at the same time, the variety of rigidity degraded with the step of load is studied, and the linear formula of rigidity degraded can be reached; and we can get some beneficial conclusion.The research of this paper can provide reference for the project, and establish foundation for further study.
