More and more Chinese companies joined the global competition by applying a safety marking.. But the most important factor influencing the reputation of our household appliance companies is the product safety problem of those for export. At the same time, the Occident frequently makes out new electrical safety directives, which increase the cost problems and competitive pressures of domestic household appliance companies. Even many small and medium-sized enterprises are predicting a crisis of bankruptcy.Nowadays domestic household appliance companies put the design emphasis on function, appearance, comfortability and intelligentize etc. The time they consider electrical safety is when they have to have their products tested and certificated for export needs. This brings out a reacting rather than acting process of safety certification, with ineffectual and inefficient efforts. So the companies have to modify their project frequently for export certification, which increases the cost and slows down the export course.Design stage decides most of the performance of household appliance. For active reply to the Occident technical barriers and certification, and to help them build up safety philosophy during the process of product design, this paper brings forward a household appliance design method and process model for electrical safety, through which the safety degree of domestic household appliances are expected to be enhanced.In chapter one, the actuality and trend of household appliance design and safety are presented, the Occident safety certification's influence to domestic household appliance industry and the corresponding dealing suggestions are analyzed. Finally, the meaning, intention and the main work of this paper are presented.In chapter two, the requirement analysis of household appliance electrical safety is presented. Based on the requirement analysis, an electrical safety assessment system is built, including the assessment objective, principle, the index points such as structural safety, and the assessment index points' determinant method.In chapter three, the research of traditional household appliance's design method and development model is made. Then its disfigurement for electrical safety is shown and the electrical safety assessment becomes a need. So the household appliance design method for electrical safety is brought forward, including its principle, development model, main content, development process and implement modelIn chapter four, a household appliance design and assessment method model for electrical safety is established for reference. Then its system and implement process are analyzed. With the reference model, the analysis of the application case is brought forward.The last chapter summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of the paper, and gives a forecast of future research work.
