The traction batteries are used to provide motive power for electric vehicles. The major problem on the traction batteries is a high efficiency to recharge. In the thesis, the inner working principle of the traction batteries is introduced; the process of charge and discharge of the traction batteries is researched. Contrasted advantages and disadvantages of common charge modes and analyzed experience of experts and varied standards, three kinds of automatic chargers are designed.Automatic Charger with IUIa Characteristic for the Traction Battery based on SCM: Based on subsection constant current, this automatic charger adopts the control mode of constant current and constant voltage and constant current subsection, and utilizes AT89C51 SCM to control the process of charge. The interface, examine and display circuit of SCM are designed, and software translate and edit and system debugging are accomplished. Through experiment, the automatic charger is good.Automatic Charger with Wa specialty based on magnetic leakage transformer: Using output specialty of magnetic leakage transformer, decrease in output voltage of transformer by increase in output electricity, the design charge curve of this automatic Charger is close to the acceptable curve of battery, namely Wa specialty curve.Automatic Charger based on fuzzy control theory: Analyzed charge and discharge process of battery, a fuzzy controller is designed. Through Matlab simulation experiment, this automatic Charger realizes speedy high efficiency and damage-free control charge process.
